get_credit_balance reports your available credits — the running total of your credit ledger.
What it does
Sums your credit ledger, scoped to your account, and returns the available balance. Paid tools debit credits when they run, and a balance of 0 blocks them until you top up.
Having credits is not always enough
The tools that read live data from a paid third-party SEO provider need a paid balance: they are refused on an account that has never bought anything, however many trial credits are left. The reply says so, because the balance alone reads as permission — a trial account seeing a healthy number concluded "mine is not zero, so it works", and it did not.
Buying any credit pack clears it, and the reply says which side of the rule your own account is on: an account that has bought credits is told the vendor tools are unlocked, one that has not is told what unlocks them. Both wordings name the rule, so it stays knowable either way. Which tools are gated is on each tool's own page and in Billing & Credits.
